I don’t really do new year resolutions but this year I decided that in 2012 I wanted to finally learn to sew. As a stay at home mum I don’t really get much time to myself but I think its good to have ambitions and plans that are just about me.
My parents generously gave me a cute sewing machine for my birthday. Fortunately it had great instructions and after a while (quite a while) I was all set up and ready to go.
For my first creation I decided to do something very simple. I had found this project on pinterest and thought it looked ideal. The instructions to make the throwing comet were very clear and easy to follow. Completing this boosted my confidence and made me feel like I could try something a bit more complicated.
For ages I’ve needed a new bag but I’ve been struggling to find anything nice. So I searched pinterest and found quite a few I liked but as soon as I saw this one I need it would be perfect.
I got my fabric from Ikea. It didn’t take too long to complete thanks to some great instructions and I only made a couple of mistakes! I made my strap quite a bit longer than the original – I’m very tall.
I’m very proud of my first proper sewing project and hope its just the start.
